From Coach Heather Ross:
Your donation, no matter the amount, goes directly to the Softball Program and has an immediate impact on the student-athlete experience. No matter where you are physically located, your presence is felt with us! We could not do what we do on or off the field without you.
We are entering the 45th year of WPI Softball and are looking forward to building on the legacy of those teams before us. We are working hard on the field, in the classroom, and within the community to make you proud.
The history of WPI Softball is one of success and building champions, and this year we are working to bring the NEWMAC trophy back to the rooftop!
With this championship-level tradition and culture comes the need for consistent assistant coaches and opportunities to train at the highest level. With your help, we can ensure more consistency in our staffing as we train competitively against some of the top teams in the country! Playing these top teams in Virginia and North Carolina in March will impact our strength of schedule and put us in a higher competitive state for when we get back for NEWMAC play.
Additionally, there are some equipment and facilities upgrades our program needs this season that your support would make possible. For example, new front toss nets and an equipment storage shed for the rooftop would greatly impact our student-athletes and the overall experience of being a part of the WPI softball program.
Meet Destiny Lum, ‘26:
“Since embarking on my journey at WPI, WPI Softball has evolved into my second family. The culture of WPI Softball speaks volumes within the greater WPI community as we are leaders, both on and off the field, and involved community members. We are a program who believes in loving one another for the people we are versus the players, leaning on each other when the going gets tough, and dedicating ourselves to the life-changing sport that’s brought us all together.
By receiving a WPI education, coupled with my Native Hawaiian background and knowledge, I hope to make a difference in the world by connecting my cultural knowledge and Western education. In doing so, I also hope to be a trailblazer for other Native Hawaiians, especially girls, to establish themselves within STEM fields and show them that it is possible to receive a Western education without losing the culture that encompasses who you are.”

Year after year, we have called on your generosity in supporting our student-athletes. And as every time before, we knew the teams could count on you.
With more than 1020 donors and over $192,000, your commitment has blown us away once again. Without a doubt, what you have achieved here this week will provide transformative support for WPI Athletics. You are the GOAT!
Stay tuned for additional thanks from the teams and final tallies next week. For now, rest assured that they have received your message loud and clear—you are someone who cares deeply about our student-athletes and who believes in them as they work toward their ambitious goals on and off the field and court.
It simply means the world to have you in our corner. Thank you.

We are in the final hours of GNGC2024 and appreciate all the support so far! Please help us reach our goal of at least $175k, as we demonstrate how important WPI Athletics means to all of us with our collective impact. If you’ve given already - thank you! and please help by reaching out to others and encourage their participation.
And when giving (or giving again!), please consider the WPI Athletics General Fund that helps all 600 student-athletes and our 18 teams with their care and performance development.
Go Goats!!
