From Coaches Jason Steele and Larry Noble:
We can’t overstate the value and importance of our spring training trip in preparing the team for spring competition, and hope you will help make this experience possible for our student-athletes. Looking ahead, we intend to build on the success of 2023.
With your support, we can make our Spring Training trip to Florida as we prepare the Women’s Team for a bid to the 2024 NCAA Championship and the Men’s Team for a third consecutive appearance at the IRA Championship.
Your support means a lot!
Meet Maggie Kirwan ’25:
“My rowing team has played a huge role in my WPI experience from day one, providing me with strong role models to look up to and strive to emulate. These friendships have become as solid as family, serving as a reliable support system whenever I’ve needed it, whether it be in classes, navigating college life, or just someone to talk to.
Additionally, my time on the team has taught me the value of working diligently for the benefit of others. Through the guidance of our coaching staff and unwavering support of my teammates, I have learned how to pursue my fullest potential and prioritize the person I aspire to be, not only on the water but in all aspects of my life.
I hope to use my WPI education to make a difference in the world by using the foundation of technical and soft skills I’ve acquired at WPI to approach challenges from diverse angles to craft innovative solutions.”
Meet Nicholas Manz ‘24:
“Men's Rowing has played a huge role in my WPI experience. From my freshman year, I created friendships that have extended throughout my four years here at WPI. I've spent countless hours with teammates rowing, doing homework together, hiking Mount Wachusett, and last year exploring London on our training trip.
The team has become like family to me. The team has always been there for me, and it has had such a profound positive impact on my time at WPI. Furthermore, I've learned time management skills, to help balance my heavy workload as a Civil Engineering undergrad and my training for Men's Rowing. I learned and am still learning to become a leader as Co-Captain of the team, and still learn every day from my fellow teammates.
I hope to use my WPI education to pursue my interest in Civil Engineering and go into the field of Rail and Transit engineering. I believe that public transit should be accessible and efficient for everyone. I want to help achieve this by helping create improved rail infrastructure, which in turn can reduce or eliminate emissions and increase train frequency. While this may seem like a small goal, access to efficient public transit has been shown to increase the wealth of everyone who has access to it, reduce emissions by removing vehicles from the road, and stimulate the economy.”

Year after year, we have called on your generosity in supporting our student-athletes. And as every time before, we knew the teams could count on you.
With more than 1020 donors and over $192,000, your commitment has blown us away once again. Without a doubt, what you have achieved here this week will provide transformative support for WPI Athletics. You are the GOAT!
Stay tuned for additional thanks from the teams and final tallies next week. For now, rest assured that they have received your message loud and clear—you are someone who cares deeply about our student-athletes and who believes in them as they work toward their ambitious goals on and off the field and court.
It simply means the world to have you in our corner. Thank you.

We are in the final hours of GNGC2024 and appreciate all the support so far! Please help us reach our goal of at least $175k, as we demonstrate how important WPI Athletics means to all of us with our collective impact. If you’ve given already - thank you! and please help by reaching out to others and encourage their participation.
And when giving (or giving again!), please consider the WPI Athletics General Fund that helps all 600 student-athletes and our 18 teams with their care and performance development.
Go Goats!!
