Gifts to Cross Country and Track & Field contribute to...
From Coaches Brian Chabot and Emily Dippet:
We want to take more student-athletes to "destination" competitions than we have in the past. More and more of our recruits ask if we take these types of trips, so it not only impacts our current members of the team but could influence others to join us.
These trips are also necessary specifically for Cross Country where performing well in out-of-region competitions factors into NCAA Championship selection. In addition, we'd like to support continued education for our coaching staff via training or attendance at the national coaches convention. We would not be able to provide such positive and competitive experiences without the generous support of our donors like you. Thank You!
From Student-Athlete Elie Bowman ’25:
"My teammates have been my greatest support system, constantly pushing me to grow as an athlete, leader, and person. Whether waking up at 4:45am for 400-meter repeats or staying late at meets together to watch elite races at BU, we’ve built a bond that goes deeper than our shared love for the sport.
The generosity of alumni, parents, friends, and the WPI community plays a pivotal role in our experience, allowing us to compete at the highest level, represent WPI with pride, and create lasting memories. Thanks to this support, athletes have been able to participate in prestigious meets, like Grace Hadley’s pursuit of an Olympic Trial qualifier last year, and the women’s cross country team’s trip to pre-nationals, ultimately helping them qualify for nationals for the first time as a team! It’s incredibly motivating to know that the people who once stood where I am believe in our ability to succeed."
From Alumni Athlete Laura (Pumphrey) Kane ’16, 4 x All-American and HOF ’24:
"Being part of the WPI Women’s Track and Field team was fundamental to my WPI experience. It helped me excel in every aspect of my WPI life, holding me accountable to my academics, extracurricular activities, and personal growth. Athletics reinforced the value of consistent effort and gave me the energy to fully engage in everything I pursued at WPI. Investments in WPI athletics—such as support for higher-tier competitions—send a powerful message to student-athletes: their dedication and hard work matters. The generosity of alumni, parents, and the WPI community is incredibly meaningful. It reflects a shared belief in the power of a WPI education—one that pushes students to think globally and dream big."
