Since 2016, WPI has participated in the Habitat for Humanity Collegiate Challenge, where we volunteer with a Habitat location in another state for one week. This year we hope to hold 2 build trips - one in the winter and one in the spring, due to increased interest and participation. Members have expressed that the May trip can be difficult for some to attend due to graduation and moving out of residence halls, while the December trip can interfere with travel and holiday plans. Having 2 trips planned will give more students the opportunity to attend. This year’s locations will be announce soon, however, we anticipate traveling after B-Term ends, and after D-Term ends. These funds will help cover expenses such as airfare, food, and program fees. Our goal is to alleviate the costs of travel and food for students - which have been paid out of pocket in the past, and to help with the program fees allowing more students to be able to attend.
In May of 2023, we traveled to Sea Island, SC with 11 students. While there we built a wheelchair ramp for an elderly woman’s home, and worked on insulating some new build homes. In December of 2023, we traveled to Georgetown, SC with 13 students. On this trip we painted an elderly woman’s home, worked on roofing for a new build, and helped construct a storage shed for a community garden.

We recently traveled to Louisiana to work with the St. Tammany West Habitat for Humanity affiliate in Slidell. Our group of 14 students spent a week working on two new construction homes, focusing on various tasks. The main project was the placement and installation of roof trusses on both houses.
Outside of our workdays, we had the chance to explore both Slidell and New Orleans. Some highlights included visiting the French Market and an unforgettable swamp tour!
Your support helped make this trip happen. Thank you again to all of our donors!
